“O to press the seasons
and taste the quiet juice
of their veins.

Everywhere young
faces breathing in crusts.”
-Sonia Sanchez

CHAPTER 11 . LIVING THE DREAM FARM, CLAYTON, WISCONSIN . Khaiti & Andrew

That’s me! with a baby goat (kid).  Can you see the joy in my eyes, to have that sweet milky smelling soft pink nosey mama needing bundle.  Lots of baby goats running around.  Khaiti & Andrew moved last Fall which was a very big project.  They constructed new accommodations for all the animals; no easy feat.  With so much more land at this location, they are happy to provide room and forage for happier animals.

MUSKRAT FARM, STILLWATER, MINNESOTA

Honeybee on apple blossoms

At Muskrat, we use natural treatment free methods with the bees – no medications or chemicals of any kind.  One hive was so large, the bees instinctively created a new colony, they divided into two colonies from large one.  This colony split off and swarmed to a tree, where Laurie & Lorna captured the swarm and moved them to a second hivebox as their new home.

“Last Night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt —- marvelous error!
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white comb
and sweet honey
from my old failures.”
-Antonio Machado
